What Causes Depression?

Often people think depression is caused by difficult life situations. However, this only tells us apart of the picture. If it was really just down to having bad events happen to us nearly everyone would have depression.

To really understand Depression you need to understand three main things:

1) An increase in stressors.

2) A reduction of rewards.

3) Avoidance patterns.

By understanding these three things you can start to break out of your Depression.

And luckily these are actually really simple concepts that you can understand in just a few minutes.

Depression is caused by an increased in our stressors, a reduction of our rewards and being trapped in something called an avoidance pattern

Part 1 - What Causes Depression:

Once you have watched the video you should hopefully have a good understanding of how life events can effect our rewards and stressors and how it is these changes that emotionally effect us, leading to us to engage in avoidance patterns.
